The company is preparing for a new phase and is multiplying its goals in the Nordic countries.
The Board of Directors of Ilmatar Energy Ltd has appointed Juha-Pekka Weckström (52), M. Sc (Eng), as the new CEO of the company. Weckström is moving to Ilmatar from the position of CEO of Helen Group, the second largest energy company of Finland. He will begin work at Ilmatar on 1 January 2023. Ilmatar’s current CEO Juha Sarsama will continue as the company’s adviser and is supporting the new CEO in the transition phase until 31 March 2023.
– Ilmatar’s development in recent years has been very good. We have successfully implemented a change of strategy to become an independent power producer. Simultaneously, we have made a total of more than one billion euros of investments in our company and in Finnish renewable energy. However, the even stronger growth we are aiming for and the reaching of a new scale requires new kind of leadership while the energy industry is at the centre of historic change, opportunity and climate facts, says Kalle Pykälä, Chairman of the Board of Ilmatar Energy Ltd.
Weckström has a strong and successful track record of speeding up strategy implementation and leading change from his previous roles as CEO at Helen, Digita, Realia Group and TeliaSonera Finland as well as from several domestic and foreign company boards. He also chairs the board of Finnish Energy, the branch organisation for the industrial and labour market policy of the energy sector in Finland.
