Background
Ilmatar is preparing a wind farm with total power of approximately 75-130 MW in the municipalities of Kauhajoki and Kurikka, South Ostrobothnia.
The Harjanneva development area is located between Ikkeläjärvi and Säkkijärvi, approximately 20 kilometres southeast of the centre of Kauhajoki. For the Kauhajoki area, the plan is to build 10 turbines. An additional three wind turbines will possibly be constructed in Kurikka.
The Kauhajoki City Government has approved Ilmatar’s planning initiative to start planning for the Harjanneva area in Kauhajoki at its meeting on 1.11.2021, and the participation and assessment plan (OAS) has been made available for public inspection from 24.2.2022. The Kauhajoki Technical Committee decided to open the draft plan for the project to public inspection on 31 October 2023.
The environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure for the Harjanneva wind power project has started and the EIA report for the project has been published by the South Ostrobothnian Regional Development Centre on 1 November 2023.

Tuesday 21.11.2023 from 18.00 to 20.00 at the Ikkeläjärvi youth club Ilmola, Rytinevantie 6, 61880 Ikkeläjärvi (the public meeting also applies to the pending master plan for the wind power project in the town of Kauhajoki). Coffee starting at 17.30.
Wednesday 22.11.2023 from 18.00 to 20.00 at the Ilvesjoki Youth Club House Toimela, Ilvesjoentie 691, 61760 Ilvesjoki, Jalasjärvi. Coffee starting at 17.30.

Schedule
Construction in Harjanneva is projected to start in 2025 or 2026 with power generation set to commence around 2027.
Asset Management
Upon completion, Ilmatar Service Oy, a subsidiary of Ilmatar Energy, will take over the wind farm’s technical and commercial management.
Ownership
Ilmatar is furthering the Harjanneva wind farm project towards the construction phase through its project company, Ilmatar Kauhajoki Oy, which is domiciled in Kauhajoki.
