Background

Ilmatar is looking into the possibility of starting a wind power project in the Konikallio area, located in the town of Ikaalinen and the municipality of Hämeenkyrö.

The tentative plan is to build a maximum of 15 wind turbines in the area. Most of this area is in a location allocated for wind power production in the Pirkanmaa regional land-use plan (Konikallio-Kivinevankalliot). Ilmatar has submitted land-use plan proposals to both Ikaalinen and Hämeenkyrö. The respective proposals were approved by the municipal executive board of Hämeenkyrö on June 21, 2021 and by the Ikaalinen environmental committee on September 14, 2021.

The Konikallio project shall prepare individual wind power components for Ikaalinen and Hämeenkyrö master plans, with a separate environmental impact assessment (EIA) carried out in parallel. However, the goal is to integrate both the land-use planning process and the EIA for the Konikallio project in terms of e.g. public notices, public inspections and public events. The point of contact for the EIA is the Pirkanmaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.

The environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the Konikallio wind farm project has started, and the Pirkanmaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment has published the EIA programme on February 9, 2022. The EIA programme of the project is available here (in Finnish): www.ymparisto.fi/KonikalliontuulivoimahankeYVA

Asset Management

Upon completion, Ilmatar Service Oy, a subsidiary of Ilmatar Energy, will take over the wind farm’s technical and commercial management.
