Background
Ilmatar is planning a wind farm with a production capacity of approximately 50–80 MW in the municipality of Merikarvia in Satakunta. The Kultakalliot development area is located on the northern border of Merikarvia, west of highway 8, approximately 17 kilometres northeast of central Merikarvia.
The Kultakalliot plans include a maximum of 8 wind turbines with a maximum tip height of 350 metres. The final number of turbines, their location and the land-use plan area shall be determined in the next few years during the investigation and land-use planning process. There are a number of factors contributing to the end result, such as statements, opinions and discussions with stakeholders related to the impact of the land-use plan and the environmental impact assessment (EIA).
The municipal executive board of Merikarvia approved Ilmatar Energy’s land-use planning proposal in its meeting on October 10, 2022. The full process takes approximately two years. The Kultakalliot wind farm is estimated to commence production no earlier than 2027.
Ilmatar is furthering the Kultakalliot wind farm project through its project company Ilmatar Merikarvia Oy which is domiciled in Merikarvia.
