Background
Ilmatar Kajaani Oy is planning to build a wind farm in the Löytösuo area on the western border of Kajaani. The planning area of the Löytösuo wind power project is bordered to the west by the municipal boundary between Kajaani and Pyhäntä and the Piiparinmäki wind power sub-regional plan. The northern part of the area is located close to the municipal boundary of Siikalatva. The project area is located about 1.5 km west of Vuolijoki and more than 30 km southwest of Kajaani. The nearest area with a status plan is the Vuolijoki status plan at a distance of about 1.5 km.
On 22 February 2022, the Kajaani City Council approved § 41 of a planning initiative to start the preparation of a zoning plan. On 29 June 2022, the sub-regional plan was initiated by the Kajaani City Council by decision of 21 June 2022 § 147. The notice of initiation of the zoning and the participation and assessment plan are available on the Kajaani City website.
The EIA procedure for the wind farm and electricity transmission has been launched in accordance with the EIA Act. A public meeting on the EIA evaluation plan was held on 21 June 2022 at Vuolijoki Bank House (Kajaanintie 2, 88270 Kajaani).
A public meeting on the zoning of the project was held on Wednesday 17 August 2022 at the Otanmäki school ballroom (Uunimiehentie 10 B, 88200 Otanmäki).

The paper EIA report can be consulted during the consultation period in the lobby service of the Kainuu ELY Centre (Kalliokatu 4), Kajaani City Hall (Pohjolankatu 13), Otanmäki Library (Uunimiehentie 6), Kajaani City Library (Seminaarinkatu 15), Vaala Library (Niskantie 8), Pyhännä Library (Manuntie 4), Siikalatva Library (Keskustie 20) during their opening hours.

Public event
A public meeting on the project and the EIA report will be held on 16 April 2024 at 17:00-19:00 at Vuolijoki Bank House (Kajaanintie 2, Vuolijoki). The event can be followed remotely. A link to the public meeting will be added to the above-mentioned Environment Agency website.
