Background
Ilmatar is looking into the possibility of constructing a wind farm with a maximum of 16 turbines at the municipal border of Parkano, Kihniö and Kurikka. High-quality wind conditions, distance to residential areas and compatibility with existing land-use purposes in the area make it favourable for the production of wind power.
The final number of wind farms, their location and the land-use plan area shall be determined in the next few years during the investigation and land-use planning process. There are a number of factors contributing to the end result, such as statements, opinions and discussions with stakeholders related to the impact of the land-use plan and the environmental impact assessment (EIA). A preliminary noise prediction model has been developed for the area (see appendix).

Ilmatar has submitted the land-use plan proposals to the municipalities in February 2021. The proposals allow the land-use planning process and thorough investigations to commence. The full process takes approximately two years. Thus, the construction of the wind farm may commence no earlier than 2024.

Asset management
Upon completion, Ilmatar Service Oy, a subsidiary of Ilmatar Energy, will take over the wind farm’s technical and commercial management.
Ownership
Ilmatar is furthering the Lylyharju wind farm project through its project company, Ilmatar Lylyharju Oy.
Nykytilanne
Ilmatar on jättänyt helmikuussa 2021 kaavoitusaloitteet kuntiin. Kaavoitusaloitteet mahdollistavat kaavoitusprosessin ja kattavan selvitystyön aloittamisen. Kaavoitusprosessin kesto olisi noin kaksi vuotta. Tuulipuiston rakentaminen alkaisi aikaisintaan vuonna 2024.
