Background
Ilmatar is exploring the possibilities of a wind power project in the eastern part of Seinäjoki. Preliminarily, the area could accommodate a maximum of approximately 16 wind turbines.
Ilmatar has submitted a zoning initiative for the wind power project to the city of Seinäjoki, which was approved by the Seinäjoki City Council on April 11, 2022. The number of wind turbines, their placement, and the zoning area will be specified during the zoning process and future surveys.
The project has received strong support from landowners. Landowners are encouraged to contact Ilmatar if they have not yet reached an agreement.
Schedule
The Participation and Assessment Plan (PAP) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) plan were available for review from 2nd June to 1st July 2022. The project’s draft plan and EIA report will be available for review from 7th December 2023 to 2nd February 2024.
The estimated approval of the zoning would occur in 2024, depending on the schedule of the South Ostrobothnia Regional Spatial Planning.
