To Be Operational (estimate)

Ilmatar is looking into the possibility of starting a wind power project in the eastern part of Seinäjoki. Tentatively, the area could support a maximum of 16 wind turbines.

Ilmatar has submitted a land-use plan proposal to the city of Seinäjoki. The city board of Seinäjoki approved the proposal on March 14, 2022. The final number of wind farms, their location and the land-use plan area shall be determined in more detail during the land-use planning process and with upcoming investigations.

The project has received strong support from landowners. Landowners are kindly asked to contact Ilmatar if they have yet to make an agreement.

The next phase is to create an agreement for the land-use plan process. The participation and assessment scheme and the environmental impact assessment (EIA) are estimated to be available in May 2022.

The approval of the land-use plan is estimated to take place in late 2023 or early 2024. This is most likely contingent on the scheduling for the regional land-use plan in South Ostrobothnia.
