Background

Piiparinmäki encompasses 41 turbine locations in the municipalities of Pyhäntä and Kajaani. The construction began in October 2019 and first turbine installation was completed in September 2020. The Piiparinmäki wind farm provides over 700 GWh of clean energy yearly from 2022 on. As the EPC contractor, we are in charge of the entire construction process, as well as the completion of the overall project.

Piiparinmäki is a 211 MW wind farm located in central Finland. The project was developed by Metsähallitus, one of the most prominent developers in Finland with a track record of divesting over 500 MW of fully developed projects. In September 2019, Ilmatar divested the project to Glennmont Partners, one of Europe’s largest clean energy fund managers.

Once fully operational in 2022, Piiparinmäki will be Finland’s largest wind farm and one of the largest unsubsidised wind farms in Europe. The project has entered into a PPA with Google that covers a significant portion of its production.
