Background

The Möksy and Louhukangas wind farms are in the municipality of Alajärvi in the Southern Ostrobothnia region. This location, a partially forested and partially discontinued peat production area, benefits from being 200 m above sea level. The wind farms comprise of 42 wind turbine locations. The municipality has granted building permits for each of the locations.

Originally, we started this wind farm development alone. However, once we progressed we partnered with EDF Renewables, a large global player, to better enable us to develop this utility-scale wind farm according to best practices in the global wind industry. We still continued to manage the EIA process and take care of the master planning process. This has been done in close cooperation with several authorities.

Current status

We are getting ready to construct the wind farms in the near future. EDF Renewables, now a close and trusted partner, is one of the largest companies in the renewable energy field.

“We have been working with Ilmatar for several years now. Ilmatar is an experienced, professional and important player in the Finnish wind power industry. Our co-operation, based on a project specific approach, is very efficient and successful. Having Ilmatar as a partner represents a strong added value to our projects,” says Nicolas Voyez, Project Director, EDF Renewables.

Asset management

Once the wind farm is operational, our sister company Ilmatar Service Oy will provide it high quality technical and commercial management.
